The common hand tools found in ceramic cooking are: (1) heavy duty gloves for handling hot equipment, (2) loose fitting PVC or Nitrile gloves for handling large meats and (3) really dependable tongs. We put all three in a package, discounted their price and for fun, added some other useful accessories with 15% to 25% of additional savings. To give you an idea on quality, we searched over four years to find these heavy duty welding gloves. We use all these products when grilling or barbequing!
The tools are a collection from several national vendors. Given the discounted pricing, we can't actually peg vendors with specific products. However, we can describe and tell why each was picked.
Welding Gloves: Welding gloves are commonly worn as hand protection against hot equipment. As mentioned, we've been on a four year quest for an exceptional pair of gloves. We found, tested these and like 'em. Basic glove design includes: heavy wool, thumbstrap, 15” length, thermo-leather and fully enclosed lining. The Gloves are not recommended for food handling. When handling any hot items from the cooker, it's best to preplan on how and where the items will go. Size: XL
16" Long Tongs: The 16" length is an advantage when working in the cooker or over hot lump. The soft cushion grip adds to hand comfort. The bump locking mechanism is a plus when both hands are busy. Fabricated with smallwares grade stainless steel. Recommend hand washing to preserve the soft grip. We've had the same tongs for over three years! Fabricated with smallwares grade stainless steel.
PVC Gloves: Great for handling large cuts of meat: briskets, ribs or pork shoulder. We like these gloves because they are easy to get on, don't make your hands glumsy and wash up quickly with soapy water. Glove is fabric lined inside for soft feel. Important to note, for Food handling only. Size: Large
9" & 12" Tongs: Just like the 16" Tongs, the soft cushion grip is comfortable in the hand. These are perfect kitchen prep or serving tongs. Smaller hand print and lighter weight than the 16" for easier handling in confined areas. Locking mechanism provides compact storage. Recommend hand washing to preserve the soft grip. Fabricated with smallwares grade stainless steel.
Turner: Everyone owns stubby burger turners but how about a really long turner. Use this turner to slide under pizza, veggies, multiple burgers or large meat cuts. The handle is plastic. The blade is perforated. Recommend hand wash to preserve the handle. Fabricated using smallwares grade stainless steel. Flat blade section is 3"x8". Overall turner length is 15".
Bib Apron: Need to keep the cook presentable. The apron design includes divided center pockets, adjustable neck strap, 35" long fabric ties, 65/35 poly/cotton twill and 28.5"W x 19"L overall size. Color is black. Adjust the neck strap to fit. Longer ties make tying easier. Two pockets are handy. Should fit most everyone.
21" Spider Tongs: These tongs can reach the Large and XL Spiders for searing steaks and across the 24" diameter XL cooking grid. Made by the same folks who make our popular 16" tong's. Tongs' include locking mechanism, scallop shape end, riveted rosewood handles and stainless body. Made for serious food handling over hot fires.
Silicone Brush: Silicone brushes do not leave bristles in your brush tracks. The 7" length provides comfortable hand control. The 2" width is small enough for tight places and wide enough to cover large surfaces fast. The brush end is blue, so you can gauge the amount of sauce on the brush.
